For various reasons, of which I won’t expound, a redesign of our business cards was in order.
Myself, Bethany and Jeremy met together one Friday afternoon and decided to essentially wireframe the new layout for the design. We don’t do this for every design, not even for most designs, but we felt a collaboration would be best for this specific project – especially since I, the graphic designer, was feeling a bit directionless at this point.
Vintage movie posters have been a design inspiration for the branding of Vin56 from the beginning. So, we decided to go with a portrait orientation for the front of the card entertaining a lot of white space to give it that retro movie poster feel. The back of the card was done in landscape orientation so as to highlight the name and job title of each member using bigger type.
We determined that the overall appeal needed to be more professional while still maintaining an aspect of fun. This would be the most accurate embodiment of the Vin56 culture.
The biggest contributor of professionalism in the design really comes from the classic layout of the card as well as the varying dark greys, and the fun aspect comes from employing a typeface with a lot of character [Melbourne] as well as a touch of color with the dots on the front of the card.
Below is a demo of the final design and these are currently in the process of being printed.
